The credits are running. Is the game over? Not in 2018! After all, almost every major production now has exciting additional content. We introduce you to ten upcoming extensions to your favorite titles.
Additional Story Episodes, New Game Modes, or Bonus Costumes – In modern online times, downloadable add-ons provide plenty of variety. They keep games fresh in the long run and interesting for the community. We take a look into the future and reveal which DLCs you should keep an eye on and which new content was recently announced.
CALL OF DUTY: WW2 – WAR MACHINE
This second chargeable expansion for the World War II shooter “Call of Duty: WW2” is already on 10 April 2018 at the start. And of course, the expansion comes with plenty of new maps in the luggage. For “War Mode” “Operation Husky” takes you to Sicily, Italy. Especially zombie friends get their money’s worth in the fresh episode “The Shadowed Throne”.
For her, it’s off to Berlin, where Doctor Straub is already waiting with his undead. The three multiplayer maps “Egypt”, “V2” and “Dunkirk” complete the package.
FAR CRY 5 – THREE DLCS IN SEASON PASS
Of course Ubisoft’s recently released open-world shooter “Far Cry 5” also has a season pass. This contains nice enough the full version of the award-winning predecessor “Far Cry 3”. If you have not tried this action experience yet, you will now have the opportunity.
There are three not-so-serious DLC episodes, House of Darkness, Lost on Mars and Dead Living Zombies. In “Lost on Mars” you take care of alien swarms on the red planet, while “Dead Living Zombies” consists of seven co-op episodes with a B-movie character.
MONSTER HUNTER WORLD – DLC VOLUME 2
Capcom’s action game “Monster Hunter World” is one of the big hits of the year. No wonder Capcom reloads as soon as possible. This spring, the DLC Lineup Volume 2, which was recently announced in the video, will be released in the spring. So you can, for example, adapt your character later and change the gender, for example.
There is not yet a price for these additional functions. In addition, followed on April 13 “Mega Man” stamp and on April 27, gestures and stamp on “Devil May Cry” and the costume of Chun-Li from “Street Fighter”.
GHOST RECON: WILDLANDS – SPECIAL OPERATIONS 1
Ubisoft heralds the second year of “Ghost Recon: Wildlands” and brings back an old friend these days. Third-echelon agent Sam Fisher joins the Ghosts. The Special Operations 1 DLC includes Sam’s “Splinter Cell: Blacklist” Karambit Knife, Bonus Splinter Cell style challenges, and of course, the signature three-point night vision device.
This content is free for a limited time only and must be purchased after this period. For the coming months, Ubisoft also provides additional content such as missions, events, and weapons.
DESTINY 2 – WARMIND
Bungie has confirmed it. In recent weeks, the signs were increasing. Chris Barrett, Game Director at Bungie, last announced via Twitter “Aurora Retroflex initiated …”, causing a lot of speculation.
According to the grimoire card Rasput 6, Aurora Retroflex is associated with the warrior Rasput. Whether this is sufficient as evidence for the next “Destiny 2” -DLC, is up to you. We think that the online shooter will get another additional content this year.
SPLATOON 2 – THE OCTO EXPANSION
Nintendo announced the extension “Octo-Expansion” for the paint-ballet “Splatoon 2”. This should appear in the summer for Nintendo Switch and are aimed primarily at solo players. In the 80 missions, you control Octoling No. 10008, also known as Agent 8.
After you’ve done the awkward Nintendo missions, you can switch between Octoling and Inkling in online mode. There will not be any differences in the style of play.
SPIDER-MAN – THEY ARE CRAZY …
While the PlayStation 4 exclusive “Spider-Man” will be released in early September, initial information about future DLC content has already surfaced.
Of course, this includes new missions, villains, characters and costumes for the New York Wall Crawler. These contents appear after the release of the main program. Prices or release dates have not leaked yet.
FINAL FANTASY XV – THE SECOND DLC SEASON
Square Enix ‘role-playing game “Final Fantasy XV” was released in 2016. But since then, the developers are pumping all the energy into free and paid additional content. At the PAX East, Square Enix announced the second DLC season.
It consists of four fresh story episodes that once again revolve around familiar characters from the game. So Noctis, Lunafreya, Ardyn and Aranea Highwind get longer side quests. There is currently no price or publication date. One thing is for sure: if the add-on episodes keep the level of the first season, then we can look forward to a lot.
WORLD OF WARCRAFT – THE BATTLE FOR AZEROTH FLARES UP
Blizzard will launch World of Warcraft: The “Battle for Azeroth” expansion on the 14th of August and should capture all “WoW” fans on the screen for days and weeks.
The focus this time is the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. “Battle for Azeroth” blends role-playing and build-up elements and lets you fight against computer armies in massive co-op missions. “Battle for Azeroth” was announced at the last Blizzcon.
THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE: SUMMERSET
Speaking of online role-playing games, of course, we can not forget Bethesda’s “The Elder Scrolls Online”. The chapter “Summerset”, which will be released on the 5th of June 2018, takes you after Summer’s End and its history revolves around the fortunes of the Daedric Triad. The season is about 30 hours, according to current estimates.
